In England, for the first time impurities were removed from gases by chemical bonding – in scrubbing of hydrogen sulfide from lighting gas.

Experiments of gas electric filtration have started when mathematician М. Hohlfeld made a curious observation: a reservoir filled with tobacco smoke suddenly becomes transparent if a spike connected to electrostatic machine is placed into it.

The phenomenon of electric filtration of gases has been studied in details by O. Lodge who precipitated smokes of tobacco, camphor, turpentine, MgO, NH₄C1, (NH₄)₂S0₃, Р₂О₅, burnt paper, lead, and zinc.

F. Cottrel for the first time ever used electric filter in cement industry

In the Soviet Union, the first electric filter started operation in “Krasny Vyborzhets” plant, St. Petersburg.

One more electric filter was put into operation in “Pobeda rabochikh” plant, Yaroslavl.

Design office operates as an integral part of functional divisions of “Gazoochistka” trust

Afanasy Petrovich Kozlov was appointed as a director of “Gazoochistka” trust design office (thereafter “Giprogazoochistka” Institute).

Pursuant to orders People’s Commissar and Deputy Peoples’ Commissar of the USSR chemical industry No.112 dated 01.04.1939 and No.208 dated 28.05. 1939, the design office operating as a part of functional divisions of "Gazoochistka” trust was withdrawn as a separate entity under the name “Proektnaya Kontora” of "Gazoochistka” trust.

Under Resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers No.1313 dated 13.03.1952, “Proektnaya Kontora” of "Gazoochistka” trust was reorganized into State Institute for Designing of Gas Treatment Facilities, which was entrusted with responsibilities of leading organization in designing power station flue gas sweetening units.

Pursuant to order of the Minister of chemical industry of the USSR No.277 dated 20.03.1952 “Giprogazoochistka” Institute was classified as leading design organization of the first category.

According to Resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers No.3027 dated 05.05.1952, order of Ministry of Chemical Industry of the USSR No.647 dated 18.07.1952, and order of Minister of Chemical Industry of the USSR No.30.09.1952 the Institute was withdrawn from “Gazoochistka” trust and subordinated to newly founded “Glavhimproject”of Ministry of Chemical Industry.

In connection with “Glavhimproject” abolition, “Giprogazoochistka” Institute has again become subordinated to “Gazoochistka” trust as per Resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers No.219-р dated 06.03.1954, and order of Ministry of Chemical Industry of the USSR No.157 dated 10.03.1954.

Pursuant to Resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers 2511-1037 dated 24.09.1958, and order of Ministry of Chemical Industry of the USSR No.250 dated 01.10.1958 a branch of the Institute was founded in Leningrad

The Institute reports to the State Committee of the USSR Council of Ministers for chemistry

Owing to “Gazoochistka” trust reorganization (pursuant to Resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers No.1078 dated 18.10.1963, and order of the State Committee for Chemical and Oil Industry within the USSR State Planning Committee No.339 dated 29.10.1963) into the “Glavgazoochistka” Head Department of the State Committee for Chemical and Oil Industry within the USSR State Planning Committee the collateral subordination of “Giprogazoochistka” Institute has been changed accordingly.

In compliance with Resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers No.805 dated 25.10.1965 (in connection with reorganization of the State Committee into the Ministry of Oil Refining and Petrochemical Industry of the USSR) "Glavgazoochistka" and subordinate institute start to report to the Ministry of Oil Refining and Petrochemical Industry of the USSR.

"Glavgazoochistka" has been renamed into VO “Gazoochistka” (All-Union Association for gas purification and dust collection) and subordinated to this Ministry.

23 324 files has been collected and kept in the general documentation management archive of the Institute from 1939 to 1966 years

According to approximate estimate, about 23,203 files has been collected and kept in the technical archive of the Institute within period of 1928 - 1968 years.

Accountable manpower of the Institute amounts to 307 people as of March 1. 1971.

Council of Ministers of the USSR entrusted the Institute with a duty to coordinate design and exploration works in the field of gas purification in the Soviet Union, develop core technical operations in designing gas treatment facilities, and execute design and experimental works connected with introduction of advanced innovative gas treatment equipment and processes

Ildus Kerimovich Reshidov was designated to a post of Director of “Giprogazoochistka” Institute.

Ivan Kirillovich Mindrul was appointed as a Director of “Giprogazoochistka” Institute.

A computing device occupying about 30 m² area has been installed in the Institute

Privatization and corporalization. “Giprogazoochistka” OJSC as a continuing company of “Giprogazoochistka” Institute has been formed.

The Institute has become a member of “Stins Coman" Diversified Holding (Group of Companies).

Certification audit performed by «TUV CERT» company has confirmed compliance of “Giprogazoochistka” OJSC quality system with International Standard ISO 9001:1994

“Giprogazoochistka” OJSC has included Design Institute “Proekthimzaschita”, the head institute of Gosstroy of Russia in the sphere of “Anticorrosion protection of building structures, facilities and process equipment” keeping all types of its core activities such as: Anticorrosion protection of structural steel for buildings, facilities and process equipment, industrial safety expertise, survey and reinforcement of structural steel for buildings and facilities.

“Giprogazoochistka” OJSC has received ISO 9001:2000 quality management system certificate, audit has been carried out by representatives of the leading European certification center - TUV Thuringen e.V (Germany).

New areas of “Giprogazoochistka” OJSC business have been discovered ensuring full-scale complex of engineering operations and turnkey construction.

V.D. Lyubanovsky has been awarded a grade “Top Manager of the Russian Federation – 2006”

As a result of reorganization of Marketing and Supply Department of “Giprogazoochistka” OJSC a new company – “DOS” CJSC has been founded whose principal field of activities is supply of equipment and materials for desulfurization units. “DOS” CJSC comprises Diversified Holding (Group of Companies) “Stins Coman”.

According to solution of “Giprogazoochistka” OJSC Board of Directors dated April 12, 2007, electromechanical gas purification was separated as an independent company – “Giprogazoochistka-Engineering” OJSC, and all the staff involved in this field has been transferred into it.

Representative offices have been opened in Uzbekistan, Belorussia, Ufa, Singapore as a result of vigorous growth of potential, production capacities, and a number of large projects implemented in Russia and worlwide.

Agreement with “Naryanmarneftegas” LLC, "LUKOIL" oil company subsidiary has been signed and as a consequence “Giprogazoochistka” company participated actively in construction of the first gas desulfurazitaion unit constructed in the Arctic Circle in permafrost conditions.
